Cerith Snails may be small, but they are valuable members of a marine aquarium’s cleanup crew. These active scavengers feed on algae, leftover food, detritus, and other organic waste throughout the tank.
They are also known to burrow through the sand, which can help keep the substrate stirred and reduce compacted areas. Cerith Snails are generally most active during the evening and overnight, when they can often be seen grazing across the rockwork, glass, and sand bed.
Cerith Snails are best suited for established saltwater and reef aquariums with plenty of natural algae and organic material available to graze on. They may occasionally lay long, curved strings of eggs on the aquarium glass, although the eggs are often eaten by tankmates or removed by filtration before they can develop.
Peaceful, reef-safe, and hardworking, Cerith Snails are an excellent addition to a well-rounded cleanup crew.
