Copepods and Amphipods
For best results, add copepods and amphipods when your aquarium lights are off or shortly before the dark period begins. This gives them a better chance to settle into the rockwork, sand bed, refugium, and other protected areas before fish begin hunting them.
Before adding pods, turn off your return pump and wavemakers for a few minutes. Pour the culture into the aquarium, refugium, or sump, then rinse the bottle with a small amount of aquarium water to help remove any pods left behind. Leave pumps and wavemakers off for about 30 to 60 minutes to allow the pods time to settle, then turn your equipment back on.
Phytoplankton can be used alongside copepods as a natural food source, helping support and maintain a healthy pod population in your reef system.
