Hybrid Powder Blue Tang

The Powder Blue Hybrid Tang is a stunning hybrid between the Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon) and the Whitecheek Tang (Acanthurus nigricans). This fish displays a beautiful mix of blue, black, white, and yellow coloration, giving it a unique appearance that stands out in larger marine aquariums.

Like its parent species, this tang is active, energetic, and constantly on the move. It requires plenty of open swimming space, strong water quality, and established live rock for grazing. This species is an excellent algae grazer and can help control natural algae growth throughout the aquarium.

The Powder Blue Hybrid Tang is generally reef safe and should not bother corals or most invertebrates. However, it can be territorial, especially toward other tangs or similar-shaped fish, so tankmates should be chosen carefully.

A varied herbivore-based diet is important for long-term health. Offer marine algae, nori, spirulina-based flakes or pellets, and occasional meaty frozen foods.
