Ophioderma cinereum
The Serpent Starfish is a hardy and active marine invertebrate that adds unique movement and interest to saltwater aquariums. Known for its long, flexible arms and quick movement, this species is both useful and fascinating to watch as it explores rockwork and sandy areas.
Native to Caribbean and Florida waters, the Serpent Starfish spends much of its time searching for detritus, leftover food, and organic matter. It is generally peaceful and does well in reef or fish-only aquariums with stable water conditions and plenty of rockwork to hide in and crawl across.
This species is mostly nocturnal and may stay hidden during the day, becoming more active after lights out. It can be fed small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and sinking pellets if additional feeding is needed.
