The Finger Gorgonian is a beautiful Caribbean gorgonian known for its branching structure, bold coloration, and delicate white polyps. Coloration may range from bright yellow to red, with contrasting calyces that give this gorgonian a striking appearance in reef aquariums.
This gorgonian is non-photosynthetic, meaning it does not rely on light as its main source of nutrition. Because of this, it requires regular supplemental feedings and is best suited for established aquariums with stable water quality and consistent care. It can also make a great addition to seahorse aquariums when proper flow and feeding needs are met.
The Finger Gorgonian is peaceful but should be given space away from neighboring corals and anemones. Its base can be secured to live rock using reef-safe epoxy or coral glue.
Medium to strong water flow is important to help keep the branches clean and prevent algae or cyanobacteria from settling on the tissue. If buildup occurs, it should be gently removed to help prevent tissue damage.
Feed several times per week with suitable filter-feeding foods such as phytoplankton, rotifers, baby brine shrimp, Marine Snow, and other fine particulate coral foods.
