Despite its name, the Fighting Conch is generally a peaceful and useful addition to a marine aquarium. This active bottom-dweller spends much of its time moving across the sand bed, helping stir the substrate while feeding on leftover food, detritus, algae, and other organic matter.
Fighting Conchs do best in aquariums with open sandy areas where they have room to forage. While they are not strong climbers, they can move over low rocks and uneven areas along the tank floor. Because they have a hearty appetite, they should be kept in mature systems with enough natural food available and can be supplemented with meaty foods, algae-based foods, or dried seaweed as needed.
