Horseshoe Crab (1-3 inches)

The Caribbean Horseshoe Crab is a truly unique marine invertebrate with a hard, horseshoe-shaped shell and long tail, giving it a prehistoric appearance unlike almost anything else in the aquarium hobby. This peaceful bottom-dweller spends much of its time moving across sandy areas and sifting through the substrate in search of food.

Best suited for large, established aquariums, Horseshoe Crabs need plenty of open sand to roam and forage. They will scavenge for detritus and leftover foods, but should also be offered meaty items such as chopped seafood, shrimp, and quality frozen marine foods. While generally peaceful, they may disturb sand-dwelling animals or delicate aquascaping as they move through the tank.
