Canthigaster rostrata
The Caribbean Sharpnose Pufferfish is a small, colorful, and personality-filled marine fish that makes a great addition to many saltwater aquariums. It is known for its compact body, pointed snout, and attractive patterning with white, brown, and bright blue accents.
Native to Caribbean reefs and rocky coastal habitats, this species does best in aquariums with plenty of rockwork, caves, and hiding places to explore. The Sharpnose Puffer is generally peaceful, but like many puffers, it may nip at small invertebrates, ornamental shrimp, or slow-moving tank mates, especially if underfed.
This hardy species usually adapts well to aquarium life and readily accepts a variety of meaty foods. Offer a balanced carnivorous diet that includes mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and high-quality frozen or prepared marine foods. Its manageable size, active behavior, and bold coloration make it a fun choice for fish-only systems and reef aquariums with caution.
