The Caribbean Spiny Box Pufferfish is a unique and eye-catching marine fish known for its rounded body, short spines, and expressive face. Full of personality, this species adds curiosity, movement, and character to larger saltwater aquariums.

Native to Caribbean reefs, seagrass beds, and sandy-bottom habitats, Spiny Box Puffers do best in aquariums with plenty of rockwork for shelter and open areas for swimming and resting. They are generally peaceful, but may become territorial toward smaller tank mates and may pick at invertebrates or corals.

This hardy species usually adapts well to aquarium life and readily accepts a variety of meaty foods. Offer shrimp, squid, clams, chopped seafood, and high-quality frozen or prepared marine foods. Because of its size, appetite, and tendency to nip, it is best suited for established fish-only or FOWLR aquariums.
